Wormwood effect: bitter substances are definitely present
However, you will no doubt have heard of the proverbial “wormwood taste”, which is famously associated with something bad.
Interestingly, good and bad go hand in hand here: we are talking about the bitter taste of wormwood.
Because Wormwood is bitter, really bitter.
Anyone who has ever drunk wormwood tea will know it – it is difficult to get it through your mouth – at least as a bitter beginner – because of the taste.
It is comforting: The taste is even worse if you try to eat the herb straight.
However, the bitter substances are the most important ingredient in wormwood: wormwood is the bitterest native herb and has been used in herbal medicine for a very long time.
In the past, wormwood was also known as medicinal bitters.
The bitter substances in wormwood have an antispasmodic effect and support normal stomach and intestinal function.
They also stimulate the digestive juices.
Wormwood has a supportive effect on the elimination of toxins and waste products via the liver and stomach.
In this way, it helps our body to keep the blood healthy.
