Magnesia 7 – Your optimal magnesium and vitamin D complex
Magnesia 7 is an optimally balanced magnesium and vitamin D complex with seven different magnesium compounds (magnesium citrate, magnesium bisglycinate, magnesium malate, magnesium lactate, magnesium gluconate, magnesium carbonate, magnesium phosphate). The various magnesium compounds of organic and inorganic origin could ensure a good magnesium supply, regardless of the pH value situation in the gastrointestinal tract.
Importance of vitamin D:
Current literature suggests that vitamin D may be largely responsible for the transport of magnesium and calcium from the intestinal lumen into the blood.
Why everyone needs magnesium:
Together with calcium, potassium and sodium, for example, magnesium is a vital mineral. It is essential, which means that it must be taken in with food and cannot be produced by the body itself. An adult’s body contains around 20 to 30 g of magnesium (approx. 0.05 percent of body weight):
- 50 to 60 percent of it is in the bones.
- 2 percent in body fluids, including 1 percent in blood serum.
- The rest is in the connective tissue, liver and red blood cells.
- 95 percent of the magnesium is found in the cells.
The versatility of magnesium in the body:
Magnesium is a crucial cofactor in around 500 enzyme systems in the body and could fulfill numerous tasks.
Participation in energy production:
One of these tasks could be involvement in energy production. A magnesium deficiency could lead to tiredness, exhaustion and a feeling of being overwhelmed in everyday life. Cardiac arrhythmia and muscle cramps could also be the result, as magnesium relaxes the muscles and could therefore prevent cramps.
Anti-inflammatory effect:
Magnesium could also have an anti-inflammatory effect.
Magnesium for diabetes:
Magnesium could support insulin production in the pancreas and help to transport insulin effectively into the cells. A magnesium deficiency could therefore contribute to the development of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. Magnesium deficiency could often be increased in diabetes patients as they excrete more minerals via the kidneys.
Magnesium and obesity:
A low magnesium level could promote the development of high blood pressure and lipometabolic disorders, which in turn could increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Antihypertensive effect:
Studies show that an adequate intake of magnesium could lower blood pressure.
Magnesium activates vitamin D:
Magnesium could activate vitamin D, meaning that the effect of vitamin D could also be impaired in the event of a magnesium deficiency. It is important to ensure a balanced magnesium supply, as a deficiency could have far-reaching health consequences.
Incidentally, the recommendations are higher in the USA
However, the above recommendations do not have to be meticulously adhered to, as there are other recommendations in other countries that have certainly not been less thoroughly researched and suggest that one could certainly take more magnesium than is recommended in Germany. The NAM (National Academy of Medicine, formerly IOM (Institute of Medicine)) in the USA, for example, recommends higher magnesium intakes for several population groups:
- Infants up to 6 months 30 mg magnesium (6 mg more than in Germany)
- Infants up to 12 months 75 mg (15 mg more than in D.)
- 9-year-old children 240 mg (70 mg more than in Germany)
- 14-year-old boys 410 mg (100 mg more than in Germany)
- Men aged 31 and over 420 mg magnesium daily (70 mg more than in Germany)
