What is OPC?

OPC stands for oligomeric proanthocyanidins and is nothing more than a secondary plant substance.
OPC is extracted from grape seeds, the bark of certain types of pine or even the skin of peanut kernels.
Our product is obtained from grape seeds.
OPC is a powerful antioxidant, i.e. it intercepts so-called free radicals, which lead to premature ageing and oxidative stress.

OPC as an anti-ageing agent

OPC can therefore be described as an anti-ageing agent, because as a fighter against free radicals, which otherwise lead to cell and tissue damage and in serious cases even attack the fibrous proteins collagen and elastin, it reduces the ageing of the skin.
The less collagen there is in the skin, the drier and more wrinkled it becomes.
Even tiny blood vessels that supply the skin with oxygen and nutrients are partly made up of this fiber protein, which falls victim to free radicals.
But as if that wasn’t bad enough: the cells that could form new fiber proteins also end up as victims of the free radicals – only if the vicious circle is closed and the free radicals are stopped does the aging process stop.
Taking antioxidants – preferably powerful ones such as OPC – helps to achieve this.
The skin does not dry out further and can regenerate, and OPC also helps with hyperpigmentation.

OPC- one of the most powerful antioxidants

Other famous antioxidants are vitamin E and C. But now take note: The antioxidant potential of OPC is 20 times greater than that of vitamin E and a full 50 times greater than that of vitamin C. Another feature: OPC repairs collagen that has become unstable.
Skin enzyme activity is also promoted by OPC, which leads to increased protection against UV radiation.
The evaluation of a study showed that a daily intake of 300 mg grape seed extract increased the antioxidant activity in the blood by over 10%.

OPC also has an effect on allergies, as it inhibits certain pro-inflammatory enzymes which, when activated, would lead to the release of histamine and thus to allergic symptoms.
The cardiovascular system also benefits, as free radicals are not only involved in skin problems, they attack all fiber proteins in the body, including those of the blood vessels.
If these are damaged, high blood pressure can develop.
If the number of fiber proteins decreases, the blood vessel walls harden, the blood flow comes to a standstill and the body increases blood pressure to keep things flowing at least to some extent despite the poor vascular situation.
When OPC comes into play, it prevents the blood vessel walls from becoming too permeable (permeability) and is therefore also referred to as vitamin P by some experts.
This prevents vein problems, oedema, lymph congestion, open legs and circulatory disorders.
By strengthening collagen, it tightens the skin and prevents cellulite.
By protecting cells and cell structures as well as genetic material from oxidative destruction, the development of diseases can be prevented and existing radical-related diseases can be halted or even reversed.
In humans, oxidative damage to cell lipids and other structures on a large scale is the beginning of chronic diseases such as arteriosclerosis or immune system disorders.
Free radicals are also involved in the development of osteoporosis, tooth decay, diabetes and digestive problems. The list of effects of OPC can be extended by many more points.
