These vitamin E groups include tocopherols and tocotrienols, for example. Some of these groups are very effective, others are less effective or more or less researched. Tocotrienols have a higher biological activity compared to tocopherols, even if their vitamin E activity is somewhat lower. In particular, α-tocotrienol is 40 to 60 times more effective than the most abundant α-tocopherol. However, it is difficult to absorb this valuable antioxidant through food, as tocotrienols are only found in a few plant-based foods such as palm oil, rice bran oil, wheat germ oil and annatto.
