Turmeric has a long tradition in the traditional Indian healing art of Ayurveda.

For thousands of years, turmeric has not only been used as a spice, but also as a remedy in traditional medicine, such as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Ayurveda. In recent years, numerous studies have also been published that confirm what has long been known in ancient folk medicine: turmeric has many health-promoting properties and effects.
After ingestion, the liposomes circulate in your bloodstream and the release of nutrients is delayed and prolonged. This means that they go directly to where they belong in the body – and do so constantly. The effect lasts much longer and you are optimally supplied.

Curcumin: the active ingredient complex from turmeric

Curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric root. Curcumin belongs to the plant substance group of curcuminoids. Turmeric root contains 3 to 5 percent curcuminoids, the majority of which are in the form of curcumin.

It is often claimed that curcumin and curcuminoids are so poorly bioavailable that it is almost impossible for them to have any effect, as they are not digestible at all, i.e. they are not absorbed by the intestine and therefore can hardly enter the bloodstream. Apart from the fact that the bioavailability of curcumin and curcuminoids can be increased with certain tricks, it is quite conceivable that the plant substances also have a healing effect via the intestine and the intestinal flora.

There are numerous international studies that have scientifically proven the outstanding effects of curcuma, which was originally used in many traditional medical systems (India, China, Thailand).

In particular, the plant substances may inhibit inflammatory processes in the intestine and contribute to the regeneration of the intestinal mucosa and intestinal flora. However, the healthier the intestine, the intestinal mucosa and the intestinal flora are and the better the digestion works, the healthier the person is.

Turmeric inhibits inflammatory processes

One study found that patients who took curcumin for more than 4 weeks enjoyed falling CRP levels. A high CRP value indicates chronic inflammatory processes in the body and is considered a harbinger and risk factor for cardiovascular diseases (e.g. arteriosclerosis) and many other chronic diseases.

The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effect of curcumin was also demonstrated in a study. 117 participants, all of whom suffered from metabolic syndrome, took a preparation containing 1000 mg curcumin plus 10 mg piperine or a placebo preparation every day for 8 weeks. After the test phase, three inflammation markers had improved. CRP levels and malondialdehyde levels decreased, while SOD levels (a measure of antioxidant activity) increased.

In another study on the subject of inflammation, cytokine levels were examined. Cytokines are messenger substances that are released during inflammatory processes and can promote the development of chronic metabolic diseases, especially if a metabolic syndrome already exists (high blood pressure, diabetes (precursor stage), obesity, high blood lipid levels). However, if the patients in question took a daily preparation containing 1000 mg curcumin, the cytokine levels fell within 8 weeks.

Turmeric has an antioxidant effect

Antioxidant properties also automatically lead to an inhibition of inflammation. A meta-analysis from 2015 showed that curcumin (taken for longer than 6 weeks) was able to increase the body’s own antioxidant levels (SOD, glutathione). At the same time, the levels of free radicals in the participants’ blood decreased.

In 2016, a study was published that confirmed the above results. Here, too, SOD and glutathione levels increased when the test subjects – patients with knee osteoarthritis – took a preparation containing curcumin for six weeks (1500 mg daily (plus 15 mg piperine) divided into three doses). It was concluded that these antioxidant effects were probably responsible for the pain-relieving and overall healing effects of curcumin in osteoarthritis.

Incidentally, turmeric can possibly activate the flow of bile, whereby fat is broken down into tiny globules, washed around and thus digested more easily. Curcuma may therefore support the digestion of fat,

And what are these liposomes?

Lipo… – who? Let’s take a look at the origin of the word: The term “liposome” comes from the Greek and is derived from the word “lipos” for fat and “soma” for body. Aha – that’s pretty accurate! Because the root of the word refers to the properties of a liposome.

Liposomes are nothing more than lipid vesicles made of phospholipids strung together to form a double membrane. Great, another new term! To clarify: most people remember phospholipids from school: phospholipids are made up of a hydrophilic (water-loving) head and two hydrophobic (water-repellent) hydrocarbon tails. They are involved in the formation of the lipid bilayer of many biomembranes and are therefore found in all animal and plant cells.
And this is where it gets very interesting, doesn’t it? Because this double membrane is not only found in plants and animals, it is also found in the cell membranes of our body. Both in their aqueous interior and within their fat-soluble double membrane, liposomes can transport different substances regardless of their charge, size or structure, whereby they are protected from the body’s own enzymes of the digestive tract and to some extent even from stomach acid. The body is designed to deal with liposomes.

And it goes even further! Not only can liposomes be processed perfectly, they can also fuse with cell membranes as they are similar in structure. The absorption of these phospholipid membranes has priority in the body. With the help of this “deceptive maneuver”, liposomes reach their destination via the digestive tract in no time at all.

Liposomes are a Trojan horse, but a very friendly one.

What advantages does this bring?

“Well, but capsules work really well and they’re much cheaper!”, many of you may be thinking. But unfortunately we have to disappoint you. Unfortunately, it is all too easy to throw money out of the window when you skimp on food supplements. People with a disturbed intestinal flora will know this problem only too well. You take a product for months, but the effect just won’t show. But this problem can also occur with a healthy gut. This is because sensitive active ingredients lose a large part of their activity while passing through the gastrointestinal tract or are simply not absorbed in the small intestine.
Enzymes in saliva also break down some active ingredients and the acid in the stomach is also not conducive.

As a result, “normal” orally administered nutrients usually only deliver an average of 10-20% of the nutrients they contain to the body’s bloodstream. to the body’s bloodstream.

In the liposomal form of food supplements, fat- and water-soluble active ingredients are encapsulated in a
shell, so-called phospholipids. As a result, the body absorbs the active ingredients completely.

How does this work in the body?

Liposomes are very easily absorbed directly into the bloodstream through the mucous membranes in the mouth and digestive tract. Once in the bloodstream, they circulate through the body, fuse with cell membranes and then release their encapsulated active ingredients directly into the cell. Simply simple!
Even if intestinal absorption is impaired, liposomes are completely absorbed via the intestinal wall and are therefore bioavailable at the place in the body where they are needed.

Liposomes can also easily evade excretion via the kidneys, i.e. through the urine, as the micro-droplets of fat are not dissolved directly in the blood plasma.

In the field of oncology, the ability of liposomes to cross the blood-brain barrier is utilized. In contrast to normal chemotherapy preparations, drugs injected in liposomal form can have an effect on the brain. For this reason, it has been hypothesized that vitamins administered liposomally also reach the brain more easily.
In addition, liposomes do not have the side effects associated with the intravenous administration of vitamins.

Conclusion: Our liposomes have up to high bioavailability because their phospholipid bilayer protects the active ingredient stored in them. At the same time, liposomes are very easily absorbed by the mucous membranes of the mouth, stomach and intestines, which is why they are transported directly into the blood.
