The tea is mainly said to have a diuretic and blood-purifying effect. Nettle leaves contain flavonoids, which are secondary plant substances that have a mild diuretic effect. This means that they increase urination and thus flush the urinary tract (i.e. ureters, bladder and urethra). The essence of the stinging nettle

Every plant also has an essence – which means that the plant not only has a physical effect, but can also be used for mental complaints. If waste products accumulate in the body, this is also the case in the mind in a figurative sense. Nettle tea can help here. It is intended to help break up the solidified structures so that the useless substances can be eliminated. The tea is not only supposed to work against the waste products in the body, but can also be used against hardening and “poisoning” in the soul. The nettle “flushes” the body and the soul along with it. This is why this plant is particularly suitable for spring and detoxification cures.

How do I consume the tea?

About eight teaspoons of the dried leaves are poured over one liter of boiling water and left to infuse for at least ten minutes. The tea is then strained through a fine sieve and can be drunk warm or, of course, cold.
If you don’t like the taste, you can refine the tea with a little lemon or sweeten it (e.g. with stevia). Or you can mix the nettle tea with a herbal tea blend, so the effects of the nettle are retained, but the taste is overlaid by other herbs.

An intensive course of nettle tea typically lasts four to eight weeks. It is recommended not to exceed a period of eight weeks, as the strongly draining properties of the tea could strain the body.

The healing properties of nettle tea

Stinging nettle is also believed to help with rheumatism and arthritis (according to researchers), and the tea is also often used during a diet or fasting cure. Nettle tea also boosts the metabolism, which can help the body to lose weight. Due to its detoxifying effect, the tea is said to help against skin blemishes such as acne.
Incidentally, drunk in the morning, the tea has a pick-me-up effect due to its high iron content.
