Dates grow in the southern countries of the Orient and are a popular treat.
Processed into date syrup, they offer a healthier alternative to sugar:

  The pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) contained in dates also stimulates the energy metabolism in the body’s cells.
• Dates have significantly fewer calories than ordinary cane sugar.
• According to an English study by Hajer Taleb, the syrup also has an antibacterial effect.

What are Mazafati dates?

Mazafati dates come from the region around the 2000-year-old city of Bam.
The landscape is characterized by deserts and steppes.
In the oases on the edge of the ‘Desert of Light’ Dasht-e-Lut, date palms thrive, which are dependent on irrigation through millennia-old underground systems, the so-called qanats.
In canals several hundred meters deep, groundwater is channelled from high-lying regions into the dry desert plains, where it allows around 28,000 hectares of date plantations to flourish at Bam.
Mazafati palms, which bear fruit for around sixty years, make up a large proportion of the palm trees – a truly sustainable plant culture.
Today, Mazafati accounts for around twenty percent of date production.
Mazafati dates have an exceptionally fine black skin.
Their tender flesh and great taste make Mazafati dates by far the most popular soft dates in the world.
Mazafati palms can produce viable yields for over 60 years.
